My Own Frazzled Professional Story

Like many small business owners, my entrepreneurial journey began after a robust corporate career.  It stands to reason that if you’re a woman who is focused on developing her career without losing her sense of self and devotion to her family, you’ll want to work with someone who not only gets it, but lived it.

Back in my full-time corporate life, it was clear that I lost myself while taking care of everyone else and working my way up the ladder, trying to deliver non-stop. As a nurturer, it was not apparent to me that while I cared for others at home and in the workplace, I neglected the care that I needed myself.

I was focused on the people who reported to me, determined to be a mentor and leader. I kept open channels of communication with my team, helping them find strategies to manage their workload at home while successfully completing their projects at work. The practice of acknowledging our whole person is what worked.

Forgetting to Put On the Oxygen Mask First

Yet, while I was guiding others toward self-actualization and well-being, I wasn’t taking care of myself. I was doing everything to keep going – and while things were getting done, my sleep was disturbed, my body ached, and I knew I was running on empty. It was also challenging to my relationships.

I literally checked in with myself daily: “How will I manage my day today? Can I just sit quietly with myself for a few minutes? Is my head flying all over the place?” If you’re starting at a high level of stress, any minor thing is going to push you beyond the level you can manage.

Taking the Time to Understand What’s Important to You

I had to learn my own way, like swimming through a tidal wave. I had to figure out how to pull the pieces together to be the leader that I wanted to be – approachable, a collaborator. Self-care, wellness, what is even possible for me? How does it relate to me?

Through mindfulness, being self-aware, and focusing on what was important to me, I kept leading forward while developing myself. Some of my goals were simple and visually apparent – instead of bringing work home, immediately spreading it all over, I just wanted my kitchen table back for enjoying good food while catching up with family.

I Rekindle A Greatly Needed Sense Of Self For You

After my corporate career, I didn’t suddenly decide to jump into a business coaching women. I took the route of first becoming a national board-certified health and wellness coach and a certified integrative health coach. With training, credentials, and a major dose of real-world experience, I show women how to create that sense of self-worth for themselves, giving them the power to be agile and adapt strategies for themselves.

Every day is not going to be perfect or the same. Even if you get caught in the whirlwind of weeks or months of stressful work and activity, I show you the tools to stop, re-calibrate, and begin again. Rather than falling into victim mode, it’s about taking back the power of choice.

What Does Self-Care Mean To You?

Is self-care about healthier habits? Feeling better? Relieving stress? Is it about wanting to be at your best? Stop listening to what others strive for – pay attention to the woman in the mirror. It shows up differently for each woman and that’s what we discover together and work on.

Seeing other people succeed and nurturing other people has always been what I loved and what energizes me.  If you feel that my story resembles yours, and that I can help steer you in the right direction, let’s schedule a call.
